“This is a place to embrace Margate's character, with rooms that have absorbed decades of seaside air. The breakfast buffet, especially the scrambled eggs, is a clear highlight, best enjoyed in the dining room or on the terrace. It's the kind of establishment where the fading September light and a G&T on the terrace feel perfectly in tune.”

The Walpole Bay Hotel offers a unique, characterful experience near the beach, featuring a classic 1927 lift and a quirky in-house museum, not to mention the artworks displayed throughout the hotel. Guests can enjoy breakfast on the verandah, surrounded by flowering plants, and some rooms offer balconies with great views. breakfast service friendly staff vintage interiors small room water pressure musky smell
breakfast service was excellent. i found the staff to be very friendly, and they paid attention to my individual requirements. the building's vintage interiors were attractive and interesting.
My room was quite small. the shower had poor water pressure. I found it insufficient. the crowded hallways with historical items felt a bit claustrophobic, and i noticed a musky smell.

thin curtains chaotic collection
The breakfast selection was fine. The staff did their job, I suppose.
My room faced east, so I woke up with the sun. The curtains were thin. The heat got trapped despite open windows. The so-called 'museum' reminded me of a chaotic collection without much explanation.

An Okay Stay. Some Definite Issues.

dirty bedspread dirty cups
The bedding in our room was not good. The bedspread had many stains. My pillow under the pillowcase was completely brown. The tea tray had mismatched dirty cups. Breakfast was also disappointing. I had to search through the pile of dirty and chipped crockery to find a clean plate.
